11 years ago, FIA registered an FIR against about a dozen employees of NBP for allegedly distributing performance bonus and cash rewards and paying it to themselves illegally.
Bahzad Haider, Advocate Supreme Court, while representing four of the accused before the Anti-Corruption Court, argued that FIA had not taken into account the fact that as many as 9,000 employees of NBP were granted performance bonuses and cash rewards but FIA has accused only certain officials of NBP with mala fide intentions.
A&Q also argued that the accused had no role in the decisions taken by the Board of Directors of NBP for distribution of bonuses amount thousands of employees of NBP.
After concluding the trial, the court had reserved its judgment.
In its judgment announced today, the Anti-Corruption Court has acquitted all the accused.
Written judgment will be issued later.
